Culinary Week in Croatia
22nd to 29th of June 2019
What makes the perfect vacation?
For us spending time together and sharing good food, laughing, drinking wine in beautiful yet unknown surroundings are essential when skipping daily life.
The combination of great food and wine experiences, no-fuss atmosphere and warm and welcoming locals is exactly why we fell in love with the Dalmatian Archipelago in Croatia. We would love to share that with you.
In June we invite for our culinary week at Gone. Spend a week with your loved ones discovering the historical wines and Meditteranean cuisine of Croatia.
With a richness of seafood, fish, vegetables, fruits and superior traditions within wine, olive produce, charcuterie, cheese and much more the Dalmatian Islands are the perfect setting for a culinary treat.
We got it all planned for you - check out what to expect below.
Come stay with us!
The Highlights
Day trips by speed boat to visit wineries that draw on the vast tradition of Croatian viticulture and meeting the proud islanders to taste the exceptional local produces.
Combined with downtime spend at our villa nested by the crystal clear sea.
When night falls we set up the long table for family style dinner at the terrace overlooking the sea.
The Guides
To guide you through a week of amazing food experiences and unveil the craftmanship of Croatian cuisine we have teamed up with our good friends and to-the-bone foodies Kristian Bentzen and Augusta Scheving.
Kristian is your sommelier for the week. In daily life he is Product Owner at sustainable culinary lab .506. Kristian has worked as a sommelier in Copenhagen both uncorking classic vintages in fine dining and slinging nature juice in renowned places such as Kong Hans Kælder, Roxie, Gorilla and Bistro Boheme.
Augusta is your gastro guide for the week and our oldest daughter. She works with press and communication at Food Organisation of Denmark where they among other things make the biggest food festivals in the Nordics. Before that she spend a lot of time in the Copenhagen food scene doing pop ups and working as a waiter in places such as Restaurationen, Rosforth & Rosforth, Den Vandrette Vinbar, nr. 30 and 108.
The Wine
Situated just across the Adriatic Sea from Italy, Croatia has an equally perfect climate for wine production. The history of wine production is long and proud, dating back to the Ancient Greek settlers some 2,500 years ago.
Today we find it is still a hidden gem, although the islands’ winemakers are undergoing a renaissance and the interest among wine connoisseurs are picking up.
The Croatians themselves have never doubted their heritage and proudly still grow the ancient indigenous grapes.
The Food
The quality and seasonal variety of Croatian produce is a heaven for culinary treat.
Our chef Maria is trained by Erwin Lauterbach, one of the top ranking Danish chefs and a pioneer of the New Nordic kitchen. Inspired by her training, her kitchen is a fusion of Mediterranean and the nordic simplicity. Fresh and tasteful with greens and vegetables in the starring role.
If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, do not worry, we will do as much as possible to adapt to your needs.
The Villa
The villa is situated front row to the sea with plenty of terrace space and stunning views over the water and direct access to its own platform.
The large lower terrace is the perfect spot to spend the day. Literally just above the water you will enjoy the sound of the waves and the view of the turquoise sea. During the day you can enjoy your meals and relax on the terrace or one of the upper terraces surrounding the villa.
The Island
Solta is a small island, situated 9 nautical miles from Split. It is 58 square kilometers in size with 4 harbours and 24 bays littered along the 60km of gorgeous coastline. We will take you from the mainland to the villa on the island with your own private speedboat.
The small island is a bit of a hidden gem and an ideal escape for those who want to veer from the standard tourist trail for a glimpse of traditional island life.
